Why your gift matters
Less mortgage. More community.
Whatever the campaign doesn’t raise, the Shul borrows. A $450,000 mortgage at today’s rates costs about $341,000 in interest over its first ten years. Every dollar you give is a dollar we don’t borrow, and the interest we avoid stays with our kids’ programs, our women’s programs and our families.

How pledging works
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Kehilat Shaare Shalom is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by law. You’ll receive a receipt when your pledge is paid.
When and how do I pay?
Right away, please. The Shul needs these funds now to close on the building. After you choose your gift, you can pay securely on this site by credit card or from your bank account (ACH). Bank payments cost the Shul the least in fees. You can also give by check, Zelle, wire, stock or a donor-advised fund, and someone from the Shul will contact you to collect it.
What goes on the plaque?
You choose the wording: your family’s name, a dedication in honor of someone, le’iluy nishmat a loved one, or for someone’s hatzlacha or refuah shelema. The Rabbi and the board review every plaque before it’s made and will contact you if a change is needed.
Someone already pledged the item I wanted. Can I still take part?
Yes. Choose “I’d like to share this” on any pledged item. The Shul will contact you and the current pledger to see whether you’d like to share the dedication.
Can I give without choosing an item?
Of course. Give any amount toward the campaign as a whole. Every gift brings the mortgage down.
How do the founding levels work?
Your level comes from everything you pledge, dedications included: Diamond $50,000+, Platinum $30,000+, Gold $20,000+, Silver $10,000+ and Bronze $5,000+. A gift of any amount makes you a Friend of Kehilat Shaare Shalom. Every founding pledge, at any level, is honored on a donor plaque displayed prominently at the Shul, with your family’s name or the words you choose. If you list your name, it also appears among our builders on this site under your level; amounts are never shown.
What is a family circle?
A family circle is your own link to the campaign. Share it on WhatsApp, by text or by email; everything given through it adds up together and shows on your circle’s page. A circle can pool toward a dedication, so a family can dedicate something together, or simply invite people to give any amount.
Can I stay anonymous?
Yes. Tick “Keep my gift anonymous” and your name won’t appear on this site. Your plaque wording is up to you.
